What you need to ask when your Annual Boiler Maintenance Inspection comes round
Last year's horrendous winter will be difficult to forget for a load of people, and who can guarantee you that next year's will be any better.
October is almost upon us and it about that time when we should be looking at our heating facilities in general and our boiler in particular. One thing for sure is that the longer you leave it the more expensive it will get, and those who leave it too late run the risk of finding themselves without hot water or heating when the winter starts to kick in in earnest.
Now is the time to get in touch with your local heating specialist to arrange a maintenance check, and during this semi-flat period for the heating industry, they will be happy to receive your call. If you have been taking care of your boiler regularly, and you know and trust the company, there should be no unpleasant surprises. However it never does any harm to prepare yourself a check list of what is required in boiler servicing. There are any amounts of these guides available for immediate download, most of which have been drawn up a by CORGI registered heating engineer.
The basic checks should be as follows:
- The central heating boiler vent.
- All of the pipe work leading to and from the boiler should be thoroughly checked.
- All of the pipe work outside the house has been properly lagged.
- All of the ventilation systems should be thoroughly checked.
- A check for any defective or corroded parts should be made, and replacements carried out.
- All component parts of the central heating boiler must be tested to ensure that they are functioning to requirements.
These are the basic functions that need to be carried out to ensure that your heating system will be in tip-top condition for the coming winter.
If you have not been in the habit up till now of having your boiler, water heating system and central heating system regularly checked and maintained on a regular basis, it's never too late to start. There were a lot of people who paid a heavy price last winter for their misplaced optimism that their system wouldn't let them down when they need it the most. Don't let it happen to you.
Find out who are the CORGI certificated heating service companies in your area today, and give them a call. You have nothing to lose and a warm and cosy winter to gain.
