Does my boiler need replacing? Make the most of the Government Boiler Scrappage Scheme

British Gas Leaves the Field Behind with their Super Generous Offer Boiler Replacement Top up Offer

When the £400 boiler replacement scheme was first hinted at during Chancellor Alasdair Darling's pre-budget speech before Christmas, many UK families realised that at long last there was a possibility that they would be able to replace their old, noisy and highly inefficient boiler. As the Chancellor explained the advantages of the scheme which will affect not only the 120,000 English households who will be eligible to take part in the scheme, but also the environment which will be a cleaner and better place as a result. Many expect that the scheme will be expanded to all of the UK and will eventually take in homes whose boilers are getting older, till all boilers past a certain age will be replaced. The implications for the UK heating industry will also be considerable with places of work being created in an industry which has suffered as much as any during the current recession.

So as homeowners awaited the official launch of the scheme, which took place on the 5th of January, they took the time to find out whether they would be eligible to receive the grant and how much it would cost them to replace their existing boiler. The discovered that to qualify for the £400 government voucher they must be a home owner and boiler to be replaced must be the main one used to heat the home. For homeowners who are over 60, their existing boiler does not need to be in working order. Many householders went as far as receiving price quotes, with an average of £2400 being quoted for supplying and fitting a new boiler.

However you can imagine the excitement and the relief when British Gas came in with a dramatic announcement that all of the 125,000 families who are eligible to be awarded their £400 voucher against the purchase of a new A-rated gas boiler will be granted a further package of discounts and gifts to a value of £852. Stage one is an additional £400 discount, rapidly followed up by the gift of a set of radiator controls valued at £248 as well as Homecare 200 boiler cover for repairs, to a cost of £204. With these unprecedented offers, British Gas show that they mean business.

So if you have a G class boiler which could be eligible for replacement, then you should waste no time in taking advantage of BG's offer. If you are not sure how to go about it, why not contact British Gas on 0800 327 7116 for an informal from one of their highly trained experts and advisors.
