What is British Gas EnergyShare, and What Can it Do for You?
In these tough economic times, the last thing you’re concerned about is getting your energy from renewable sources. The cheaper the better, right? Unfortunately that excuse doesn’t cut it anymore, as the British Gas EnergyShare plan costs exactly the same as a standard plan, but still allows users to clean their eco-conscience. So now you’ll have to come up with a better reason why you don’t want to save the earth.
The EnergyShare plan works because British Gas have pledged to contribute as much renewably sourced electricity into the National Grid as users of the EnergyShare plan use. So, if you’re on the EnergyShare plan, and use one unit of electricity, then British Gas will add one unit of renewably sourced electricity to the National Grid, without charging you anything extra.
In addition, when you sign up for the EnergyShare plan, British Gas will give you a choice of energy-saving gadgets and gizmos which you can use to help reduce your infamous carbon footprint, making the plan even better for the environment (and your bank balance). But that’s not all! When you choose to sign up to the EnergyShare plan, £10 will be donated to local renewable energy projects on your behalf, through the EnergyShare fund from British Gas.
This is just another way that you can be incentivised for using renewable energy. Although feed-in tariffs from solar energy panels also offer you the chance to sell electricity to the National Grid for the next 25 years, the five-figure investment that’s required to reap the rewards of this tax-free initiative unfortunately have the potential to rule many of us out of the market. So: let British Gas EnergyShare allow you to make a difference to future generations – without having to break the bank.
