Is there ever a good time to change your energy suppliers?
With the UK enjoying some pleasant spring weather and summer looking like it might be one of the warmer ones, now might well be the ideal time to consider changing energy suppliers. Why would anyone want to change their energy suppler you might well ask. The reason would normally be that during the times of peak energy demand, usually the height of winter, the current supplier was found wanting either in terms of ability to supply or in charging excessive amounts for energy.
The latter reason is usually why UK consumers change their energy suppliers, although with raw material costs constantly on the up, it’s little wonder that it’s generally difficult to keep track on which of the energy suppliers in the market place is actually offering the best value for money, at least in true terms. To help the UK consumer to understand how much they are liable to be paying in the future to heat and light up their homes, there are a number of web sites that can be readily found online that offer comparison services on a local and national level. These sites are impartial and objective and are worth taking advantage of.
One of the biggest barriers to keeping track of energy costs is that account are calculated using an estimate reading, and consumers begin to accept that the amount that they are being charged is accurate, Energy companies like this arrangement , and the average consumer has usually been conditioned to accept the figures presented.
It usually only happens when a consumer gets a really high energy bill that they begin to question what exactly they are being charged for The energy supplier has to take responsibility for providing their customers with an explanation how the bill has been arrived at. If a mistake has been made, then the energy supplier is obliged by law to return the sum of money that they have overcharged and prevent similar mistakes from occurring in the future. If the supplier looks like they may be shirking their responsibility, then the consumer would be justified in closing their account, and looking around for a fresh supplier.
No matter the reason or the circumstances, changing suppliers need never be complicated or unpleasant. A few phone calls, a few forms signed and the new supplier will be hooked up and ready to go.
