Keep the family spirit going with a coal effect fire
The difficult weather conditions have seen many a UK family confined to the homes for more time than they may have been used to over the last few years. According to media reports this has caused a variety or reactions, some where each member of the family have retired to their own quarters to do their own thing and other where the family have passed these days and hours together enjoying some pastimes that they may even have forgotten that existed.
Those who have succeeded in resurrecting that oft faded family spirit may well have done so while sitting around a gas or electrically powered coal effect fireplace.
The atmosphere that having such a warm and inviting focal point in a living room or lounge can only help to create a positive mood, one that will certainly not be gained sitting round a radiator.
With the festive season upon us, and family gatherings planned over the coming days, what can be more inviting for a guest coming out of the cold than a warm fireplace, creating that traditional atmosphere of old.
Once you have made the decision to create such an atmosphere in your home, the next stage is to decide which of the options suit you best. Electric coal or wood effect fireplaces are easy to install, especially if there is an old fireplace in the room, even if it has been bricked or plastered over. A few hours of handyman work and a visit to your local electrical superstore of British Gas showroom, and the whole project can be completed in just a few days.
Go for gas might be a different prospect. If there is a spot occupied by a radiator, then it will also be pretty straightforward to replace that flat and unexciting object with a friendly and inviting coal effect fire. So much so that it might be an idea to totally readjust the entire layout of a living room to take in this exciting new feature.
If there is no radiator in the room, then it will be back to the drawing board, and probably too late to do too much about it this winter. That doesn't mean that plans can't be made for next year, and having a coal or log effect fire in your home well in time for next winter should be at the top of your New Year's resolution list.
