The Future of Energy Needs to be Brought Forward
It wouldn't take too much of a genius to figure out that the global weather situation is not all that it should be and what we used to expect from our climate is changing. The winter of 2009/2010 was one of the toughest on record while this summer has seen some very remarkable extremes of weather raining from temperatures that are as high as have been recorded since records began to flash flooding.
Researchers have been working with increasing intensity to establish some kind of pattern as to why these anomalies in the global weather pattern are happening and what to expect in the future. In the UK, almost three quarters of the electricity that we consume is generated by burning coal with nuclear power making up the balance. While it is a well known fact that coal powered plants are unfriendly to the environment, nuclear plants are friendlier but not by too much.
The future for energy in the UK and throughout the World will be through generating environmentally friendly 'green' energy with electricity leading the way. The big advantage is that renewable energy sources as they are known, if properly harnessed, will never run out. Many people are asking why the power of green energy has yet to be properly brought into play, and the answer is that it will take a major investment to put the foundations of the green energy revolution into place. On the upside, as soon as the foundations are completed, the day to day cost of running the systems will be negligible.
One of the best known methods of generating green energy is by harnessing the power of the sun to heat water. Known as solar heating, at one time it would have been the subject of some mirth to even suggest that solar heating in the UK could be considered a feasible proposition. Something that has been around for a very long time is hydro-electric power yet its potential has never really been taken seriously. With a changing weather outlook looking more and more a reality, maybe this source of energy as well as wave power from the seas surrounding the UK might also be called into play.
Most energy analysts say that the true answer will come from the harnessing of wind energy, with massive wind turbines of the UK North coast of the UK providing a long and sustainable answer to the energy problems of the British Isles.
