Do You Qualify for a Government Insulation Grant?
Whether you live in England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales, there are all kinds of grants which can help you to insulate your home. However, as with all government programmes, there are strict sets of criteria which you need to fill in order to qualify. Below is a rough guide to the governmental assistance available throughout the UK, and the boxes you need to tick in order to receive it.
England – the Warm Front Scheme
The Warm Front Scheme in England can provide homeowners like you with up to £6,000 to put towards insulating your home. In order to receive this grant, your home must currently have no central heating, or central heating of a poor quality, and must not be insulated. If you fit these criteria, apply now over the phone by calling 0800 316 2805. Once you’ve called, you’ll receive an application form which you’ll have to fill in and send off to some government agency or other. If your application is approved, a surveyor will come round in order to find out what your insulation needs are and to help you fill them.
Northern Ireland – the Warm Homes Scheme
This scheme, with its astoundingly similar name to the English scheme, can provide residents in Northern Ireland with up to £4,300 worth of insulation and heating assistance. You may be eligible to receive help from the Warm Homes Scheme if you receive any of the following benefits: housing benefits; attendance allowance; disability allowance; working tax credits; child tax credits; pension credits; jobseeker’s allowance; employment support allowance; income support. If you think you’re eligible for this grant, call 0800 988 0599 to get the ball rolling.
Scotland – the Energy Assistance Package
There are four different types of help available from the Energy Assistance Package, however, the help is mainly targeted at pensioners, those on tax credits or income support, and those who have never had central heating in their house before. There is also a type of assistance that is available to everybody, which consists of free advice on making your home more energy efficient. To find out more about the Energy Assistance Package, call 0800 512 012.
Wales – NEST
Anyone who receives means tested benefits, support or allowances is eligible to apply for help from NEST, as this scheme is committed to ridding Wales of fuel poverty. To find out more, telephone 0800 512 012.
