Green electricity is on its way – thanks to British Gas
With the obvious changes in our global climate and the relentless increases in energy costs, researchers have been working around the globe and around the clock to find a picture of what will be in the future. A future that seems to be getting rapidly closer.
The situation in the UK regarding energy is that currently more than two thirds of the electricity being consumed comes through massive power stations powered by coal. These stations, many of which have been in use for decades, are situated in fairly desolate areas around our coast lines, for ready intake of the raw material that fires them. Nuclear power plants, slightly less unfriendly to the environment have been around for twenty to twenty five years on average, and supply the balance of power to UK energy guzzlers.
Energy experts have long since been preaching that the future of energy supply in the UK, as well as the rest of the developed World, lies in what is known as green energy. Green energy or renewable energy describes the use of natural material that comes from the Earth. Unlike coal or oil, which will eventually run out, green energy, has been around for millenniums and will remain for millenniums to come. All that mankind needs to do, is to invest fairly considerable resources to harness the power of the wind, the sun and the sea to create energy. The investment that will need to be involved on a global scale is immense, which explains the delay of getting this massive project off the drawing board in many of the World's developed nations, especially in light of the ongoing economic situation.
Only forward thinking organisations with access to massive financial resources can take such a program on board. British Gas, the UK's leading energy supplier is one of these companies. They have taken upon themselves the responsibility of securing the future of Britain's energy supply. Their three pronged development plan to further the goals of Green energy in the UK will ensure that our children and children's children will be able to enjoy plentiful supplies of environmentally friendly energy, and at a price that they can afford.
