Are you listening? There are ways to reduce your energy costs
Only someone who is blissfully unaware of what is going on in the World these days will not have heard about the potential dangers and current problems around caused by global warming. Not only that, but the rapid depletion of global energy resources now has brought about a situation that domestic heating costs have begun to rise to a level that makes it increasingly harder to live with. Which have been used for the last few centuries to heat and warm the UK?
Despite reams of information provided by the UK government and the main energy suppliers, with British Gas at their helm, fears are that too large a proportion of the UK public are not taking the information that they are being provided to heart, and are running up energy bills that, with just a little effort and attention, can be steadily if not dramatically reduced.
The following are just a few of the tips that can be used and will go a long way to reducing monthly energy bills.
The simple act of reducing your boiler temperature by a couple of degrees will make a surprising difference in costs, and if heat is not sufficient try using a blanket or a sweater or two to keep your body temperature up. Try working out a ratio of two sweaters or one blanket for each degree you reduce. You have already paid for the sweaters and blankets, so make them work for you!
Invest in a thermostat for your boiler to keep heating levels constant.
Invest in a timing device to switch of your boiler when you go to bed, and turn it on again before you get up in the morning, but not too long before. If you are going out for the evening, reset the timer. Why heat an empty house!
The same timer can be used to switch the heating off when people leave home in the morning and timed to switch the heating back on when the first stragglers start to make their way home.
If you have a child or elderly person to take care of, make sure that their radiator is on during the day, and the rest switched off. No point in heating empty rooms!
Train your children that energy cost money, so switch of lights, computer screens, televisions and radiators when they are not in use, even though it's not the "cool" thing to do.
Make sure that all the windows and doors are closed properly. It costs enough to heat your home, and you don't need to spend any more of your hard earned money heating the garden outside.
These are just a taste of the many super helpful tips for increasing energy efficiency that you will find online or off. Take them on board and you will feel the difference in your next bill.
