Why haven’t British Gas cut prices by more? Wholesale prices have fallen much more than the reduction they ’ve just announced.

Retail and wholesale prices do not mirror each other exactly. When British Gas put up prices on 30 July, they said that wholesale gas prices were up 89 per cent, but they only passed through 35 per cent. There are also other costs to consider with retail pricing, such as transport and distribution.
